Branson, Missouri is a popular tourist destination any time of year, but it’s especially beautiful in the fall when the leaves change color. The Ozark Mountains are ablaze with reds, oranges, and yellows, and there are plenty of scenic drives to take in the scenery.

The best time to enjoy the fall foliage in Branson is late September through early November. Our Branson team recommended the following as a “must do” when it comes to fall foliage drives in the Branson area:

  • Highway 165 Scenic Overlook: This 22-mile drive takes you past some of the most scenic spots in the area, including Table Rock Lake and Table Rock Dam. There are several areas to pull-off along the way where you can stop to take photos and enjoy the views.
  • Ruth and Paul Henning Scenic Overlook: This overlook offers panoramic views of the White River Valley. In the fall, the valley is awash in color, and you can often see deer and other wildlife grazing in the fields below.
  • Top of the Rock: This amusement park offers stunning views of the Ozark Mountains from its observation tower. In the fall, the tower is surrounded by colorful foliage, and it’s a great place to take photos.
  • Branson Scenic Railway: This train ride takes you through some of the most scenic areas of the Ozark Mountains. In the fall, you’ll see rolling hills, forests, and rivers all dressed in their autumn finery.
  • Branson Ferris Wheel: This Ferris wheel offers 360-degree views of Branson. In the fall, you can see the cityscape and the surrounding countryside all aglow with fall colors.

In planning the drive along any of these scenic highways, allow plenty of time for your drive as the roadways can get crowded with others enjoying the fall foliage and weather.

In addition to these scenic drives, there are many other activities to enjoy in the Ozarks in the fall. You can go hiking, fishing, boating, or golfing. There are also plenty of restaurants and shops to explore. In planning a visit to the greater Branson area, you’re sure to have a memorable fall vacation.
